FARMVILLE, Va. -- Sean McGonagill scored 20 points, hitting 4 of 9 3-point shots, and grabbed seven rebounds as Brown topped Longwood 81-69 Friday night.
McGonagill hit a pair of treys in the first 2 minutes of the game as Brown (4-1) jumped out to 8-0 lead. The Bears never trailed in the game and took a 43-26 lead into halftime. McGonagill scored 16 points in the first half.
Rafael Maia scored six points during an 8-0 Brown run to start the second half as the Longwood (2-2) deficit ballooned to 25, 51-26. Tristan Carey made three consecutive 3-pointers to pull the Lancers with 16, but Norman Hobbie's pair of 3-pointers sandwiched around another from Leland King quickly pushed Brown's advantage back to 25 points.
Brown hit 11 of 24 from 3-point range while Longwood hit just 3 of 14 (21.4 percent).
King finished with 18 points, eight rebounds and four blocks.
