Hot-shooting Gardner-Webb scorches Longwood, 82-62

Associated Press

FARMVILLE, Va. -- Jerome Hill tossed in 19 points and Naji Hibbert scored another 17 to lead hot-shooting Gardner-Webb to a dominating 82-62 win at Longwood Wednesday night.

In winning their fifth-straight Big South game on the road -- a streak that dates to last season -- the Runnin' Bulldogs shot a blistering 60 percent from the field, connecting on 33 of 55 field goal attempts, and were 9 of 12 from long range.

Gardner-Webb got off to a hot start, shooting at a 70-percent clip through most of the first half and connecting on its first five 3-point attempts while pushing to an early 33-13 advantage. Hibbert hit five-straight 3-pointers.

Onzie Branch and Tyler Strange contributed 12 and 10 points, respectively, for Gardner-Webb (11-11, 4-3 Big South).

The loss snapped a two-game conference win streak for Longwood (7-15, 2-5). Tristan Carey led the Lancers with 26 points. Jeylani Dublin added 16.
