JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Dallas Moore scored 17 points and North Florida used a balanced attack in defeating Stetson 72-61 on Saturday Night.
North Florida (10-9, 4-2 Atlantic Sun Conference) entered the second half leading 34-23. The Ospreys built upon that momentum and took a 61-42 advantage over Stetson (3-14, 1-4) when Moore fed a 3-pointer through the net at 7:11.
The Hatters showed a spark of offense, muscling to within nine points at 3:52 before the Osprey's Chris Davenport put an exclamation mark on his performance in the paint with back-to-back dunks. Moore threw in another jumper and North Florida was up by 16 and breezed to the buzzer.
Kentwan Smith was a bright spot for Stetson as he scored a season-high 27 points hitting 69 percent of his attempts.
Maryland point guard Melo Trimble, considered a lock to leave the program before struggling in the second half last season, has withdrawn from the NBA draft and will return for his junior season.
Louisville's Chinanu Onuaku, who recently underwent a medical procedure to correct a heart rhythm issue detected during the combine, will keep his name in the NBA draft pool.
Andrew White III will return to the Nebraska men's basketball team next season after removing his name from the NBA draft.
