BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Freshman Austin Price scored 21 points, including 5-of-10 on 3-pointers, as Lehigh built an early lead and held on to beat Rider 92-78 on Tuesday night.
The Mountain Hawks (1-1) made 14 of 23 shots from behind the arc, and 58 percent from the field. Jesse Chuku had 18 points, freshman Tim Kempton added 16 and senior Mackey McKnight had his first double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Lehigh built an early 18-2 lead and was never threatened.
Rider (0-1) got 24 points from senior Daniel Stewart, two short of his career-high. Stewart was just 6-of-14 from the field, but made all ten of his free throws. The Broncs fell behind 44-25 at halftime and made 39.6 percent of their field goals.
The 92 points were the most in a home opener for Lehigh since Nov. 26, 1994.
