WASHINGTON -- Darius Gardner had 13 points, seven rebounds, and six assists Saturday to lead American to its seventh consecutive win in a 66-61 victory against Lafayette.
Reed found Gardner for the outlet, and Gardner advanced the ball a streaking Kyle Kager, who slipped behind the defense for an uncontested layup only 4 seconds after the steal. Lafayette immediately turned the ball over on the next inbounds pass and never challenged again.
Bryce Scott scored 15 to lead Layayette (4-13, 0-6) which led by as much as six points in the second half and was up 61-59 with on Lindner's layup with 2:00 to play.
