Mackey McKnight, who had nine assists, made four free throws in the final 25 seconds to seal the victory for Lehigh.
Lafayette (4-15, 0-8) held a 34-33 halftime advantage and led 42-35 with 17:13 remaining. Austin Price made a 3-point jumper with 12:50 left to give Lehigh a 49-46 lead. The Leopards came within one five times but could never retake the lead.
