Sam Houston State beats Texas-Pan American 77-73

EDINBURG, Texas -- Jabari Peters scored 24 points and Kaheem Ransom added 23 on Friday night to help Sam Houston State top Texas-Pan American 77-73.

Peters and Ransom combined to hit six free throws over the game's final 27 seconds to seal the win. Peters was 13 of 18 at the free throw line and Ransom was 6 of 10 from the field, including three 3-pointers.

Paced by Justin Leathers, who scored 12 points and had six rebounds, the Broncs led for most of the first half until Peters hit one of his 3-pointers and sparked a Bearkat run that tied the game at 29 at the half.

Ransom sank a pair of free throws early in the second half for a 57-43 lead, the biggest of the game for the Bearkats. But the Broncs fought back, trimming the deficit to 72-71 with 18 seconds left before Peters and Ransom iced the win with free throws.
