CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -- Zane Knowles scored 13 points and finished with a game-high 12 rebounds as Texas A&M-CC defeated Texas-Pan American 72-61 on Sunday.
Knowles was 6 of 13 from the floor and fouled out with just 59 seconds remaining to play. Three other Texas A&M-CC players scored in double digits -- Hameed Ali (17), Jeff Beverly (12) and Cole Martinez came off the bench to score 11.
Texas-Pan American (2-4) made the first basket of the game, a 3-pointer by Shaquille Boga, but the Islanders (3-2) took back the lead after a layup and jump shot by Knowles and did not trail again. Texas A&M-CC shot 7 of 15 (46.7 percent) from behind the arc.
The Broncs shot 21 of 56 (37.5 percent) from the field, and ended the game with just 10 assists. Javon Farrell led Texas Pan-American with a game-high 19 points.
