Karhoff hit back-to-back free throws to give Nebraska-Omaha (7-3) a 40-39 lead, sparking a 9-0 run to close out the half with the Mavericks up 46-39. Karhoff was a perfect 10 of 10 from the line. Carter scored eight of his points in the second half, including a 3-pointer with 4:46 to play. The Mavericks would hit just one more from the floor the rest of the way.
Although the Mavericks led by as many as 18 points in the second half, the Road Runners closed on a 24-9 run.
Issiah Grayson scored a game-high 29 points to lead Cal State Bakersfield (5-5). Javonte Maynor and Tyrell Corbin also scored in double figures for the Road Runners. CSUB has a four-game losing streak.
