EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- Brandon West scored 14 points and grabbed 22 rebounds to lead Jackson State to a 57-51 win over Evansville on Saturday.
A big key for the Tigers was holding Balentine down. Balentine entered the game as the 4th leading scorer in the nation at 23.9 points a game. And the defense was not just focused on one player as Evansville was held to 25 below its average and the 34 percent shooting, 15 percent below average.
West helped the Tigers pull out the win. After a Marcus Love free throw put Jackson State ahead 54-50 at 47 seconds, West grabbed a defensive rebound, followed by an offensive rebound and tip-in at 22 seconds to make it 56-50.
