CONWAY, Ark. -- John Karhoff scored a career-high 28 points to lead Nebraska-Omaha to a 104-88 win over Central Arkansas on Saturday.
Karhoff was 10 of 13 from the field and a perfect 8 for 8 from the foul line to lead five players in double figures for Omaha (10-4), which shot 53 percent from the floor and 11 for 22 from 3-point range. Justin Simmons contributed 18 points, CJ Carter added 13, Marcus Tyus 11 and Alex Phillips 10.
The Mavericks jumped to an early lead with a 10-2 spurt fueled by back-to-back Carter 3-pointers and took a 50-41 advantage into the break. Central Arkansas (2-8) narrowed the gap midway through the second half on a Jalen Jackson layup that made it 63-61. But Omaha responded with a 17-8 run and then continued steadily pulling away.
