TROY, Ala. -- Jeff Mullahey scored a career-high 19 points as Troy defeated Nicholls State 77-62 on Tuesday night.
Troy (2-2) closed the game on a 12-2 run after Nicholls State cut its lead to 65-60 with 4:19 to play. Nicholls State (0-3) led 12-9 in the first half but Troy went on a 13-2 run and never trailed again.
Mullahey was a perfect 9-of-9 from the free-throw line, where the Trojans shot 86.1 percent (31-of-36) as a team. Troy was 52.6 percent (10-of-19) from the field in the first half.
Dantrell Thomas led Nicholls State with 14 points and eight rebounds. The Colonels have now lost by double digits in all three of their games this season.
