WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. -- Miles Jackson-Cartwright made 5 of 8 from beyond the 3-point line and scored 25 points as Penn topped Monmouth 79-73 on Tuesday night.
Monmouth jumped to an early 12-2 lead but Penn (1-1) proceeded to score the game's next 16 points, during which Monmouth didn't make a field goal for over seven minutes and committed six turnovers. Penn also closed the first half on a 10-0 run.
Monmouth (1-1) cut the score to 74-71 with less than half a minute remaining but Penn made 5 of 6 free throws after that to close the game.
Darien Nelson-Henry led Penn with 11 rebounds and added 14 points.
