CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- James Michael McAdoo had 13 points to shake free of his recent struggles and help North Carolina beat UNC Greensboro 81-50 on Saturday night.
Brice Johnson scored a game-high 14 off the bench as the Tar Heels (6-2) followed their road upset of No. 1 Michigan State with an easy home win. North Carolina blew the game open with a 25-1 run to close the first half, including the last 20 points, in the first meeting between the instate programs. UNC led by 30 at halftime and never let the Spartans (4-5) get closer than 21.
Kyle Cain and Kayel Locke each scored 13 to lead UNC Greensboro, coached by former Tar Heels player Wes Miller. The Spartans went the final 8-plus minutes of the first half without a basket and shot just 6-for-21 (29 percent) in the half as the Tar Heels raced ahead and never looked back.
