FULLERTON, Calif. -- Michael Williams scored 21 points to lead Cal State-Fullerton over UC Riverside 78-73 Thursday night.
Cal State-Fullerton (6-9, 1-0 Big West) got 13 points apiece from Steve McClellen and Alex Harris, Josh Gentry scored 12 and Marquis Horne added 11. McClellen pulled down 12 rebounds for the Titans, four on the offensive boards.
CSF ran out to a 7-point halftime lead at 36-29, using a 12-0 run in the middle of the stanza. Riverside went 5:25 without a point and trailed by 10 until Chris Patton's layup at 9:14, then scored the final six points of the half to get within striking distance.
Riverside got the lead to two with 23 seconds, but Fullerton made six consecutive free throws to ice it.
