LOS ANGELES -- Josh Greene scored 22 points and his 3-pointer in overtime was the difference as Cal State Northridge defeated UC Riverside 93-89 Thursday night.
Chris Patton scored to give UC Riverside an 89-88 lead with 1:27 to play in overtime. Greene answered with his 3-point basket to give Cal State Northridge a 91-89 lead with 1:05 to play. On the ensuing series, Patton was fouled and missed two free throws. UC Riverside's Colin Gruber grabbed the rebound from Patton's second miss, but Taylor Johns and Sam Finley both missed layups for the Highlanders in the closing seconds. Stephen Maxwell added a dunk with 2 seconds to play for Cal State Northridge.
Maxwell scored 24 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, had three steals and three assists to lead Cal State Northridge (11-11, 3-4 Big West).
Finley scored 27 points and Johns added 16 to lead UC Riverside (7-14, 2-5).
