CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -- John Jordan scored 22 points to help Texas A&M-Corpus Christi cruise past Northwestern State 101-87 Thursday night.
The Islanders (6-10, 3-0 Southland Conference) shot 60.3 percent from the field and had six players score in double figures. Brandon Pye scored 15 points, Joy Williamson had 14 and Jeff Beverly chipped in 13.
The Demons started out hot, hitting their first seven field goals of the game to jump out to an early 17-9 lead.
The Islanders stormed back to tie the score at 22 and pulled ahead by nine before Northwestern State's Sabri Thompson hit a last-second 3-pointer to make it 50-44 at halftime. Texas A&M-CC used a 17-5 surge capped by a Williamson three-point play to make it 72-57 with 12:07 remaining.

Guard Naz Mitrou-Long, whose 2015-16 season ended in December due to hip problems, has been granted a hardship waiver for the coming season, Iowa State said.
As the Sooners look to life without superstar Buddy Hield and his sidekicks, it's clear their unseasoned players will need to grow up fast.
