SAN DIEGO -- JJ O'Brien scored 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting to lead San Diego State to a 93-41 rout over NAIA San Diego Christian Wednesday night.
Five players scored in double-figures for San Diego State (2-1) and nine of the ten players that saw the floor scored at least two points.
San Diego State scored the first 21 points of the game in route to a 49-23 lead at halftime. San Diego Christian was held to 22 percent from the field for the game. The Aztecs outrebounded the Hawks 51-34, and shot 56 percent from the field including 8-of-17 from 3.
Kwaminique Brandon led San Diego Christian with 14 points.
The Aztecs have now won 35-straight games versus teams from California. San Diego State will play in the Wooden Legacy Tournament on Thanksgiving night.
Maryland point guard Melo Trimble, considered a lock to leave the program before struggling in the second half last season, has withdrawn from the NBA draft and will return for his junior season.
