LOGAN, Utah -- Kyle Davis scored 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Utah State to a 68-52 win over Western Illinois Thursday night at the Basketball Travelers Classic.
Utah State ended the first half on a 9-0 run, opening up a 35-24 lead. The Aggies pushed the lead to 45-29 on a Butterfield 3-pointer and coasted to the victory.
Western Illinois (4-6) cut the lead to 12 on a Mohammed Conde dunk, but that was as close as the Leathernecks would get.
The Leathernecks struggled from beyond the arc, hitting only 3-of-15 shots from long range.
The Aggies shot a blistering 52.8 percent from the field and finished 25 of 34 from the line while Western Illinois only shot 7 of 9 on free throws.
Jordan Foster led the Leathernecks with 10 points.
