FRESNO, Calif. -- Tyler Johnson scored 25 points with 8 rebounds and four assists to lead Fresno State to a 71-65 victory over Air Force Wednesday night.
Fresno State went on an 18-7 run early in the first period and led 27-16 at halftime. Air Force went almost 10 minutes without a field goal in the first period after a Tre' Coggins 3-pointer early in the game.
The Falcons (8-6, 2-1) came alive in the second period, out-scoring the Bulldogs 49-44. The team came within four with 34 seconds left to play but a pair of fouls sent Guerroro to the line for the Bulldogs where he went 3-of-4 to put the game out of reach.
The Falcons finished the game hitting 43 percent from the field and 77.3 percent from the line.
Maryland point guard Melo Trimble, considered a lock to leave the program before struggling in the second half last season, has withdrawn from the NBA draft and will return for his junior season.
Louisville's Chinanu Onuaku, who recently underwent a medical procedure to correct a heart rhythm issue detected during the combine, will keep his name in the NBA draft pool.
