NEW YORK -- Charlon Kloof scored 18 points and finished with seven assists and St. Bonaventure handed La Salle its first Atlantic 10 Conference loss, 66-51 on Wednesday night.
La Salle (11-7, 3-1) led by eight with 8:53 left in the first half, but the Bonnies quickly fired off nine-straight points and pushed ahead by three at the break. The Explorers trailed by just four with 12:39 left on the clock, but an 8-2 run gave St. Bonaventure enough of a lead to stay ahead the rest of the competition.
Both teams shot below 20 percent from 3-point range and made 18 each from the free-throw line. St. Bonaventure shot over 14 percent better from the field (23 of 52) than the Explorers (15 of 50).
Tyreek Duren led La Salle with 16 points.
Maryland point guard Melo Trimble has withdrawn from the NBA draft and will return to College Park for his junior season, sources told ESPN.
