PHILADELPHIA -- Ronald Roberts, Jr. had 20 points and nine rebounds to lead Saint Joseph's to a 61-57 victory over Rhode Island on Wednesday night.
The Hawks led most of the first half but fell behind just before intermission and trailed in the second until Roberts made two free throws with 10:15 left to give the Hawks the lead for good.
Rhode Island (10-10, 1-4) trailed by eight with 20 seconds left but Xavier Munford scored five quick points to pull Rhode Island within 60-57 and 9 seconds to play. Galloway made 1 of 2 free throws for Saint Joseph's to make it a two-possession lead with only 6 seconds to go.
Munford led Rhode Island with 16 points.
