Kyle Collinsworth added 14 points, nine assists and seven rebounds to help the hot-shooting Cougars (2-0) build a 19-point lead with 6:30 remaining. BYU shot 53.5 percent from the floor and led for the final 37 minutes.
Chasson Randle scored a career-high 33 points to go with seven rebounds and Dwight Powell had 28 points and seven rebounds, but their Cardinal (1-1) teammates struggled to provide support. Stanford shot 46 percent and had 16 turnovers.
Stanford hadn't allowed 100 points at home in a non-overtime game since beating Yale 129-108 on Dec. 6, 1985.
BYU's first visit to Maples Pavilion since 1969 -- the arena's inaugural year -- felt like a homecoming. Cougars fans sprinkled around the building serenaded the visitors with chants of "B-Y-U" throughout and roared after every score.
Cougars coach Dave Rose's fast, frenetic offense gave them plenty to cheer about, too.
BYU kept the Cardinal on the move, often neutralizing Stanford's size advantage inside with fast-break scores. Anson Winder's 3-pointer gave the Cougars a 21-13 lead early in the first half, and every time the Cardinal crept closer, BYU ran away from them again.
Winder's layup late in the first half capped a 9-1 spurt that put the Cougars ahead 47-35. Stanford trimmed BYU's lead to 54-46 at the break behind a brief burst from Powell and Randle.
It was the most points Stanford had allowed in a half since giving up 54 points in the second half of a 77-71 loss to California in the quarterfinals of the 2012 Pac-12 tournament.
The Cougars quickly put the game away in the second half. Haws' jumper capped a 9-0 run that gave BYU an 81-64 lead with 10:45 to play, and the Cardinal never mounted much of a rally.
Anthony Brown's 3-pointer brought Stanford within 99-89 with 3:26 remaining, and the Cougars held off the Cardinal at the free-throw line in the final minutes. Brown had 16 points and five rebounds.
The disappointing early showing doesn't bode well for Johnny Dawkins, who is coaching for his job this season. Stanford athletic director Bernard Muir, who sat in a mid-level section in the arena watching the game, has made it clear he expects the Cardinal to reach the NCAA tournament -- which hasn't happened during Dawkins' first five years on the job.
Dawkins certainly believed coming into the season that his team would be playing in the top-tier tournament come March, with Stanford returning its top four scorers and all but two players from last season's team that reached the second round of the NIT. Instead, the 2013-14 campaign is already off to a rocky start.
While BYU beat Weber State 81-72 last Friday, Stanford squeaked by Bucknell 72-68 in its season opener. BYU improved to 5-2 against Stanford.
