PROVO, Utah -- Tyler Haws scored 23 points as Brigham Young pulled away from North Texas in the second half to take a 97-67 victory Tuesday night.
Haws has now totaled 1,342 points at BYU (7-2). Kyle Collinsworth had a career-high 17 points and Skyler Halford had a career-high 16 points. Matt Carlino pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds. He also had 11 assists. BYU outrebounded North Texas 60-38
North Texas (5-4) jumped out to an early lead and held a 27-25 advantage at the 7:35 mark of the first period. Haws hit a 3-pointer to put BYU out front 28-27.
The Cougars gradually increased that lead until they were ahead 42-35 at the break.
Maurice Aniefiok led North Texas with 11 points.
Ted Kapita was the top-rated recruit from West Virginia in the class of 2015 and recently played at DME Academy in Florida.
With the Suns drafting Tyler Ulis, they now have five guards on their roster who attended Kentucky.
