DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Mikel Trapp scored 16 points to lead Bethune-Cookman to a 58-47 comeback win over Howard on Monday night.
Trailing 28-22 at the break, Bethune-Cookman (4-19, 2-6 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) held Howard to just 19 points in the second half while pouring in 36 of its own for the win. The Wildcats took the lead on a Maurice Taylor layup that made it 35-33 with 9:33 to go and never trailed again.
Malik Jackson contributed 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Taylor added 10 points for Bethune-Cookman, which shot just 27 percent from the field in securing its second win in a row.
Maryland point guard Melo Trimble, considered a lock to leave the program before struggling in the second half last season, has withdrawn from the NBA draft and will return for his junior season.
Louisville's Chinanu Onuaku, who recently underwent a medical procedure to correct a heart rhythm issue detected during the combine, will keep his name in the NBA draft pool.
Andrew White III will return to the Nebraska men's basketball team next season after removing his name from the NBA draft.
