SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Brendan Lane tied a career-high with 26 points and collected a career-best 17 rebounds to lead Pepperdine over Santa Clara 70-61 on Thursday night.
Lane, who is playing only one season at Pepperdine as a graduate transfer from UCLA, also blocked four shots for the Waves (10-5, 3-0 West Coast Conference), off to their first 3-0 conference start since 2009-10. It is also the quickest Pepperdine has made it to 10 wins since 2004-05, which was also accomplished in 15 games.
Pepperdine, which led by nine points earlier in the second half, was up only 60-59 with 4 minutes left before finishing the game on a 10-2 run during which the Broncos made only 1 of 7 shots.
