BATON ROUGE, La. -- Calvin Godfrey scored 14 points and pulled down 12 rebounds as Southern University overwhelmed Jackson State 60-36 Monday night.
Tre Lynch had 10 points and four steals for Southern (8-9, 4-0 Southwestern Athletic Conference). The Jaguars held Jackson State to 16 points in the second half.
Southern held a commanding 33-20 halftime advantage. The Jaguars went on a 19-10 run to start the second period to led 52-30 with 10:27 remaining.
Southern stymied the Tigers throughout, as they made only 13 of 53 field goal attempts, making just 6 of 27 in the second half. The Jaguars also won the rebounding battle, pulling down 50 compared to Jackson State's 36.
