KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Alex Carder threw for 349 yards and four touchdowns Saturday as Western Michigan pulled away in the second half to defeat Eastern Michigan 45-30 in a game that featured 1,009 yards of offense.
Carder completed 17 of 21 passes and had scoring throws of 9, 20, 33 and 66 yards. Juan Nunez (4 catches, 110 yards) had two of those TD receptions while Jordan White (7-134) had one. Brian Fields added 107 yards rushing and two touchdowns for the Broncos (4-6, 3-3 Mid American).
Alex Gillett ran for 159 yards and passed for 214 for Eastern Michigan (1-9, 1-5) while accounting for four touchdowns -- passes of 29, 40 and 32 yards and a 32-yard TD run.
