North Dakota 45, Portland St. 37

GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- Marcus Hendrickson went from the bench to the record book Saturday, tying a school record with six touchdown passes to lead North Dakota past Portland State 45-37.

Hendrickson, starting because Braden Hanson broke a bone in his leg during UND's season-opening win over South Dakota Mines, was 16 of 25 for 294 yards, hitting Greg Hardin for three scores and R.J. McGill, Jameer Jackson and Seth Nichols for one apiece. Hardin led all receivers with 190 yards.

Hendrickson added 50 yards rushing, including a late-game first down that allowed North Dakota(2-0) to run out the clock in its first meeting with Portland State (1-1) since 1981. The teams are Big Sky Conference opponents but treated this as a nonconference game.

Kieran McDonagh threw for 301 yards and three touchdowns, two of them to Justin Monahan, and D.J. Adams rushed for 144 yards and a score to lead the Vikings.
