BROOKINGS, S.D. -- Zach Zenner ran for 197 yards and two touchdowns and South Dakota State held on to beat UC Davis 12-8 on Saturday.
Zenner, coming off a 278-yard game in a win at Southeastern Louisiana last week, carried 21 times and scored on runs of 61 and 23 yards against UC Davis. Both conversion attempts failed for the Jackrabbits (2-1) in their home opener. The 23-yard run came early in the fourth quarter for South Dakota State.
Both schools used to be members of the Great West Conference. UC Davis is in its first season in the Big Sky.
