HAMMOND, La. -- Nathan Stanley's 3-yard touchdown pass to Taylor Jenkins with 2:39 remaining pulled Southeastern Louisiana within one point of McNeese State and the Lions opted to go for the two-point play, converting on a Michael Chaney run to steal a 25-24 win Saturday night.
Chaney also set up the late heroics, rushing for a 2-yard touchdown to pull the Lions within one touchdown with 3:26 remaining in the third quarter, in the first win of the season for Southeastern Louisiana (1-3, 1-0 Southland Conference).
Stanley had 247 passing yards and a score, while also rushing for 29 yards and a TD.
Stroud passed for 164 yards, two touchdowns and an interception for the Cowboys (3-1, 0-1).
