WORCESTER, Mass. -- John Macomber kicked two field goals and Holy Cross' defense held Bucknell to just 145 total yards as the Crusaders defeated the Bison 13-6 on Saturday in a Patriot League matchup.
Holy Cross (1-4, 1-0) snapped a four-game losing streak and defeated the Bison for the seventh time in its last eight meetings.
Macomber converted from 18 yards out midway through the second quarter. After a Matt Bellomo touchdown run extended Holy Cross' lead to 10-0, Macomber connected from 22 yards out to put the game away.
The junior kicker has scored a team-high 22 points this season, hitting all five of his field goal attempts (including a long of 46) and all seven of his extra points.
Macomber also pinned Bucknell inside its own 20 on three of his six punts.
Bucknell (1-4, 0-2) struggled offensively, turning the ball over twice and committing seven penalties.
South Carolina's loss to The Citadel, coupled with Georgia and Florida struggling in tight victories, was an embarrassment for the conference.
