PITTSBURGH -- Julian Hayes rushed for 158 yards and two touchdowns to help Monmouth beat Duquesne 28-27 Saturday.
Duquesne (5-3, 3-2) stormed back, scoring the first 17 points of the second half and taking a 24-21 lead in the fourth quarter when Patterson connected with Sean Brady for a 6-yard touchdown.
But Monmouth and Hayes proved to be too much. Hayes capped off a 7-play, 75-yard drive with the go ahead 2-yard touchdown run with 9:40 to play, and ran for 23 yards on third-and-18 to run out the clock on the Dukes.
