MACOMB, Ill. -- Sawyer Kollmorgen threw three touchdown passes and the Northern Iowa defense held Western Illinois to just 172 total yards for a 40-0 victory on Saturday.

Northern Iowa (3-6, 2-4 Missouri Valley) also rushed for 303 yards. David Johnson picked up 149 with a TD.

Northern Iowa's defense stymied Western Illinois (3-6, 1-5) by coming up with four sacks and picking off two passes, one that was returned by Garrett Scott for a 20-yard TD.

Hayden Northern completed 9 of 18 passes for 97 yards to lead Western Illinois, and Jean-Marc Charles recovered a fumble.
