ELON, N.C. -- Fabian Truss rushed for a career-high 219 yards and two touchdowns as Samford took an early lead and held on to beat Elon 26-15 Saturday.

The Bulldogs outrushed the Phoenix 280 to 28.
Mellette then caught his second TD pass, an 18-yarder from Mike Quinn, with 2:20 to go for the final margin.
