EL PASO, Texas -- Kasey Carrier had 41 rushes for 291 yards and four touchdowns, including the game winner, to lead New Mexico past UTEP 42-35 in overtime on Saturday night.
New Mexico had the lone score in OT, a 21-yard rush by Carrier to win the game.
New Mexico's running game was the key to the victory. The Lobos had a total of 395 rushing yards, led by Carrier and quarterback Clayton Mitchem who rushed out of the pocket for 51 yards on nine carries. Mitchem threw only seven times for 88 yards.
