DES MOINES, Iowa -- Andy Rice threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more as Drake pulled away from Dayton in the third quarter for a 36-10 victory Saturday.
Rice finished with 351 yards passing -- including one touchdown pass to Nick Rosa for 92 yards -- as the Bulldogs (6-4, 5-2 Pioneer Football League) scored 30 straight points. Rice's TD run in the final seconds of the first half gave Drake the lead at 13-10, and the Bulldogs scored another 23 uncontested points in the third quarter.
Luke Johnson threw the only TD pass for the Flyers (6-4, 4-3) in the first 40 seconds of the game, 64 yards to Gary Hunter. Dayton scored on a 28-yard field goal by William Will in the second quarter, but was unable to score again.
The win at Drake Stadium marks the 16th straight Pioneer Football League home victory for the Bulldogs.
