JACKSONVILLE, Ala. -- DaMarcus James ran for 124 yards and two touchdowns as Jacksonville State dominated Samford 55-14 in the first round of the FCS playoffs.
After forcing a 3-and-out, Jacksonville State (10-3) marched 51 yards in 8 plays for the score. James capped off the drive with a 2-yard run. On the next possession, quarterback Eli Jenkins broke loose for a 72-yard touchdown.
James plunged in from 1-yard out for a second-quarter touchdown, and less than two minutes later, Miles Jones scampered in from 12. Jacksonville State outgained Samford 361-17 on its way to a 38-0 at halftime lead.
Jenkins threw for 115 yards and a touchdown while running for 115 and another score.
Jeremiaha Gates ran for 63 yards on 13 carries.
