It doesn't really matter as the Spartans will make the playoff as long as they win in Indy, but they have a top 4 resume and earned more style points than Iowa after crushing Penn State. Spartans could have played tight today but made huge plays in all three phases. Unless Oklahoma wins tonight, who has a better overall resume?

This juggling catch by Dan Vitale helped No. 16 Northwestern beat Illinois 24-14. The Wildcats finished the regular season 10-2 and now await their bowl destination.

No team junks it up like Northwestern but the Cats are 10-2. Impressive turnaround by Pat Fitzgerald after consecutive 5-7 seasons. As a Big Ten assistant told me, "They're making chicken salad out of ..." you know the rest. But the defense is tremendous and they know how to win. Today's win secures a top bowl game.
