Austin Grebe's 39-yard field goal was good, and the Midshipmen look to continue cutting into Houston's lead in the second half on ABC.

Houston extends lead to 17 points

Linell Bonner had a Navy defenseman all up in his face, but he pulled in Greg Ward Jr.'s 4-yard pass for a Houston touchdown. The Cougars lead No. 15 Navy 31-14 on ABC.

It's all Houston early in the third quarter; No. 15 Navy is in danger, down 17 points. The Cougars have scored on five of their six drives today; Navy has only done so twice on five drives with its last drive ending in an interception. Houston took advantage by turning that turnover into six points via a Greg Ward Jr. to Linell Bonner 4-yard pass. 31-17 Houston early in the third.

Houston QB Greg Ward Jr. had an impressive first half (17-of-25 passing, 162 yards, TD) including making a couple dazzling runs en route to a 51-yard first half on the ground. The ankle injury he is battling doesn't seem to affect him at all. Navy QB Keenan Reynolds (96 passing yards, 69 rushing yards) has also been impressive but Houston's defense did a decent job keeping the Navy triple option in check, forcing Navy to punt on two of its four first-half drives.

Miami continues to pour on points

Michael Badgley connected on a 23-yard field goal for the Hurricanes, who took a 23-3 lead over Pitt into halftime.

David Hale @DavidHaleESPN

Larry Scott has done an amazing job with Miami. Two awful blowouts, coach fired, and they've never quit. This is impressive at Pitt.

Houston nails FG to increase lead to 10

Ty Cummings' 45-yard field goal hooked back and went through the uprights as Houston extended its lead over No. 15 Navy 24-14 at the half.

A 'we can't believe he caught that' TD

Houston's impressive opening drive ended with an even more impressive touchdown after Steven Dunbar made sure to get a foot in the end zone. Houston remains up over No. 15 Navy late in the second quarter on ABC/WatchESPN.

Ward's disappearing act results in TD

Greg Ward Jr. appeared to be swallowed up in the pocket by Navy's defenders, but the Houston QB managed to escape untouched -- and wound up in the end zone. Houston leads 21-14 on ABC.

Pitt finally gets on the board

Chris Blewitt recorded Pitt's first points of the game thanks to this 25-yard field goal. But the Panthers' deficit is still great: They trail Miami 20-3 on ESPN2.

Navy rarely throws and because of that, the Midshipmen are extremely effective when they do. They threw twice on their second scoring drive of the day -- a 41-yard completion from Keenan Reynolds to Tyler Carmona then a 26-yard TD pass to Jamir Tillman. Navy all knotted up with Houston 14-14 in the second quarter.

Miami's Brad Kaaya having himself a day

It's the QB's 3rd career game with a pass and rush TD (the only Miami player with more such games over the past 20 seasons is Jacory Harris, who had 4). Miami leads Pitt 20-0. Live on ESPN2/WatchESPN

Navy's Reynolds threads the needle

Keenan Reynolds' 41-yard pass to Tyler Carmona was maybe slightly underthrown, but Carmona made the catch. Navy would score a TD two plays later and tie the game vs. Houston at 14 on ABC.

Ohio governor John Kasich has doubled down on his rivalry resolutions, adding Jim Harbaugh-style khakis to the letter "M" on the list of banned items during The Game. The Buckeyes and Wolverines have more than bragging rights on the line Saturday -- the winner still has a shot at claiming the East Division title in the Big Ten.

OTD: Cowboys lasso crazy interception

On this date in 2010, Oklahoma State's Brodrick Brown gave new meaning to the tip drill when he leaped out of bounds to deflect the ball back into play, where LB Shaun Lewis then completed the improbable interception.

Kaaya to Scott as Miami scores again

Brad Kaaya found Rashawn Scott in the corner of the end zone for a 22-yard TD. Miami has increased its lead over Pitt to 17-0 on ESPN2.

Good news for injured Oklahoma players

Said coach Bob Stoops in a statement: "(QB) Baker Mayfield and (RB) Samaje Perine practiced all week and (RB) Joe Mixon has practiced every day since Wednesday. All three are expected to play tomorrow." All three players were injured in last week's game against TCU.

Navy responds strongly to Houston's opening score with a 6-play, 76-yard drive of its own. Keenan Reynolds' 52-yard run on the first play got things started; Chris Swain's 4-yard run capped it off. The Midshipmen moved the ball with ease; Houston struggled to defend their triple option attack.
