Louisville will start Devonte Fields at outside linebacker when the Cards play No. 6 Auburn on Saturday. The former Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year has been on campus for about a month after transferring in from junior college, where he spent a year after TCU dismissed him for allegedly hitting an ex-girlfriend. Meanwhile, the Louisville quarterback situation is not as clear. Bobby Petrino listed Reggie Bonnafon or Kyle Bolin or Will Gardner or Lamar Jackson as the starter on the depth chart.

K-State has named Jesse Ertz its starting QB. Ertz won a four-way competition with Joe Hubener, Alex Delton and Jonathan Banks. Said coach Bill Snyder, “We want a balanced QB who can run it, throw it, make good decisions. (Ertz) can do those things.” Ertz has some big shoes to fill. He’s succeeding the school’s all-time season passing leader, Jake Waters.
