BOSTON -- Alex Hall scored 15 points and Jackie Smith added 14 to help Hartford hold off Boston University 65-53 and earn an NCAA bid on Saturday night in the championship game of the America East Conference tournament.
Ruthanne Doherty added 11 points and 10 rebounds for the fourth-seeded Hawks (17-15), who won their fifth conference tournament title -- four of them coming in wins over the Terriers (17-14).
BU trailed 27-21 at the break before a quick surge in the second half tied the game 40-all. Hartford responded with a 5-0 burst and pushed its advantage to nine points with 3:06 to go.
Mo Moran scored 22 points on 9-of-16 shooting for the Terriers, while her teammates combined to shoot 13 for 48 (27.1 percent).
