Notre Dame gets first ever win over Tennessee to advance to Final Four
DAYTON, Ohio -- No team has ever been so happy to be 1-20.Skylar Diggins scored 24 points and second-seeded Notre Dame made up for 28 years of beatings at the hands of Tennessee, upsetting the top-seeded Lady Vols 73-59 Monday night to earn a spot in the Final Four."We went into the locker room after the game and the first thing the team said was, "1 and 20! 1 and 20!" coach Muffet McGraw said with a laugh.
Notre Dame struggled to get easy baskets early against Tennessee but the Irish found success when they were able to get out and run.

Notre Dame guards Skylar Diggins and Natalie Novosel led all scorers Monday with 24 and 17 points, respectively. The Irish leaned heavily on their backcourt in the regional final, getting post-touches on only 36.8 percent of their possessions including only 33.3 percent in the second half. Conversely, Tennessee had post-touches on 50.0 percent of their possessions while Volunteer PG Meighan Simmons struggled to find a rhythm offensively.
Notre Dame struggled to get easy baskets early against Tennessee and held a slim five-point lead at halftime. In the second half, the Irish were able to attack Tennessee on the break, scoring 11 points in transition and opening up a lead they would not relinquish.[+]
