Ravens-Bills Preview
| SCOUTING REPORT |
Ravens defense will come hard after the BillsBuffalo is coming off a bye following a gut-wrenching loss to the Cowboys on "Monday Night Football." The week off should have done the Bills well. This was a beat-up team and that gave it time to heal a bit and get rookie QB Trent Edwards even more up to speed. But the Bills roster remains very thin. Baltimore hosted the winless Rams Sunday and controlled the contest from start to finish. After this game, the Ravens have their bye and could be in excellent shape for the postseason with a win in Buffalo to go 5-2. The Ravens have not been dominating by any means this year and their wins haven't been pretty, but they are grinding out victories. |

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) -- Baltimore cornerback Chris McAlister and tight end Todd Heap were both inactive Sunday against the Bills.
McAlister will miss his first game of the season after his troublesome knee kept him out of practice all week. Heap (hamstring) and starting offensive tackle Adam Terry (ankle) both missed their second game.
McAlister was replaced by Corey Ivy.
Quarterback Steve McNair was ruled out earlier in the week because of back and groin problems. Backup Kyle Boller made his second straight start in place of McNair.
The Ravens started four backups on their banged-up offensive line, including rookies Jared Gaither, Ben Grubbs and Marshal Yanda, and six backups overall on offense.
Left tackle Jonathan Ogden returned after missing the last five games because of a foot injury, but was not in the starting lineup.
Bills starting safety Jim Leonhard (calf) and starting cornerback Ashton Youboty (ankle) both missed their second game.
George Wilson, a converted receiver, started at free safety in place of Leonhard, who was starting in place of Ko Simpson (season-ending ankle injury).
Third-string cornerback Jabari Greer, meanwhile, started for Youboty.
