| ESPN Fantasy Projection (last updated: May 15, 2009) |
2009 Season Outlook Delhomme's return from Tommy John surgery went OK in 2008. His passes had the requisite zip, and he managed 7.9 yards per attempt, which tied him with Matt Ryan for the fourth-best mark in the NFL. But Carolina's mauling offensive line transformed into one of the league's best, which in turn led to a rushing-intensive game plan in which the inconsistent Delhomme was often an afterthought. As DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart flourished, Jake the Snake withered, finishing 22nd in pass attempts and completing fewer than 60 percent of his throws. Plus, his five-interception playoff performance may have soured things for him in Charlotte. Delhomme signed a cap-friendly extension this spring, but he doesn't look like much of a fantasy option. |
