BALTIMORE (AP) -- The New England Patriots weren't kidding that they aren't perfect, no matter what their record through 12 games shows. They looked mighty vulnerable Monday night, needing a late touchdown drive and some penalties that both sides complained about to beat the Baltimore Ravens 27-24 Monday night.
Tom Brady's second touchdown kept the Patriots' undefeated journey on course. With his first score, Brady accomplished a personal feat, reaching the 40-touchdown plateau in his 12th game, the second fewest needed to reach the mark.

The previous high for a road favorite in a non-replacement game was 17 points, set in 1976 by the Cowboys, Patriots and Colts. ... Baltimore placed quarterback Steve McNair on injured reserve earlier Monday, ending his season. ... The other 12-0 teams were the 2005 Colts, '98 Broncos, '85 Bears, '34 Bears and, of course, the '72 Dolphins. The 1934 and 2005 teams did not win the championship. ... It was the 18th 100-yard rushing game in McGahee's five-year career.
It was a great chess match between New England’s offense and Baltimore’s defense that wasn’t decided until the final minute of the game. Quarterback Tom Brady and the Patriots used the no-huddle offense to limit the Ravens’ ability to use situational substituting, while Baltimore defensive coordinator Rex Ryan used different looks for all blitz packages in an attempt to disguise what the Ravens were going to do. In the end, Brady’s ability to milk the 24 second clock to force the Ravens to show their alignments just before the snap allowed him to find the soft spots in Baltimore’s coverage. Baltimore’s lack of discipline, which resulted in 13 penalties for a loss of 100 yards, did not help in their attempt to derail the undefeated Patriots. Ravens linebacker Bart Scott suffered a meltdown after the Patriots scored with a minute left in the game, drawing two unsportsmanlike penalties. The 30 yards enforced on the ensuing kickoff hurt Baltimore's last chance to tie.
