FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) -- The bizarre play seemed guaranteed to fail.
Guarantees, though, had a rough day Sunday when the New England Patriots stayed unbeaten with a 34-13 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Tom Brady threw four touchdown passes, Randy Moss caught two and Steelers safety Anthony Smith, who guaranteed his team would win, was burned on two long scoring throws.![]() | |

After two weeks of intense pressure from two of the best defensive coordinators in the NFL -- Philadelphia's Jim Johnson and Baltimore's Rex Ryan -- the New England offensive line figured it out, and just in time. Facing the most physical defense it has seen all season, the Patriots' offensive line was picture-perfect in pass protection, allowing quarterback Tom Brady all day to complete 32 of 46 passes for 399 yards and four touchdowns. Pittsburgh brought overload blitz pressure, inside blitz pressure, and man and zone fires, but the Patriots' offensive line did an excellent job of passing off, communicating and staying in position. Previously, if there was a weak link in this New England offensive line, it was its inability to pick up the blitz. Now, it appears to have solved that problem. As such, there is little that can slow down the New England passing game as the Patriots try to put together a perfect season.
