Brees throws for 266 yards and TD to help Saints win in Kansas City
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Like a slick and experienced salesman, Drew Brees knows how to close.
Kansas City, desperate for a win, scored in the fourth quarter to get within seven points and had the home crowd raising a ruckus. But Brees coolly took the NFL's top-ranked offense on a 12-play drive that ate 6 minutes and 27 seconds off the clock and was capped by Garrett Hartley's 35-yard field goal.Fast Facts
• The Saints continued their up-and-down play, now having alternated wins and losses in their last eight games.
• Drew Brees passed for 266 yards, giving him 3,251 for the season -- an NFL record for the first 10 games of a season. The previous high was 3,195 by Rich Gannon in his MVP season of 2002.
• Chiefs QB Tyler Thigpen passed for 235 yards and two touchdowns, however he threw his first interception in his last seven starts.
• Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey caught six passes, giving him 401 career receptions in 90 games -- the second-fewest games needed to reach 400 receptions for a tight end in NFL history. Hall of Famer Kellen Winslow did it in 72 games.
