DENVER -- The negativity was hanging over the Denver Broncos like a dark winter cloud.
Riding a four-game losing streak, they were facing angry fans and the league's top-ranked rushing team while also dealing with star linebacker D.J. Williams' drunken driving arrest that had him stewing on the sideline to start the game Sunday.Game notes
The Chiefs' record for most points allowed is 54, vs. Buffalo in '08. ... Broncos S Renaldo Hill injured his neck.

Research Notes
Matt Cassel threw for a career-high 469 yards and 4 TD in the loss to the Broncos on Sunday. He is just the 2nd player in the Super Bowl era (since 1966) to throw for 400 yards, 4 TD, and 0 Int in a loss. The other was Billy Volek who did in 2004 for the Titans against the Chiefs. | ||||||||||||||||||||
The Chiefs were down 21-0 to the Broncos at the end of the first quarter. That is just the third time in franchise history they have been shutout in the first quarter while allowing 21 points or more, and the first time since Week 11 of the 1986 season, also against the Broncos. The Broncos were staggered and stumbling out of their bye week. Then John Elway stepped in and Denver stepped up, ESPN.com's Bill Williamson writes.
