After using three or more wide receivers on 50 percent of their plays in the first half, the Steelers used such formations 75 percent of the time in the second half in hopes of getting favorable matchups for the running game.
The Steelers ran for only 17 yards on 13 rushes (1.3 yards/rush) against the Colts' base 4-3 defense Sunday night, compared to 51 yards on 14 rushes (3.6 yards/rush) against Colts formations with five or more defensive backs on the field. |
